• One of the major signs of an irresponsible administration is cutting off information from its followers ~ Ajose Gideon
• If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. ~ John Quincy Adams
• Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It’s about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about *spreahe* passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers. ~ Robin S. Sharma
• Don’t be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends. ~ Richard Bach
I personally would have thought Solomon was drunk as usual or having his normal time out with his emotions when he said “it is better to go to house of mourning than a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of Everyman, the living should take this to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart, the heart of fools is in the mourning… “, I couldn’t find words to communicate my grief on hearing of another death this semester, just when we all thought of going home to relax, just when we thought we have had enough of the ups and downs of this semester, just when we thought we had finished the first lap of 2016/2017 session; death in an Unusual manner came, for the record, there has been more than 5 deaths this Semester, but this particular one I would say is the most shameful and avoidable!!!
While it is not out of place for students to be familiar with their environment, it is also ludicrous to assume that the environment and all surroundings should not have studied the students!!! ADEGOKE IBUKUNOLUWA ADEOLA’s life was lost to a cruel Vigilante, and what do we get? A propaganda that he stole a laptop!!! While it would be wrong for me to assert that he didn’t steal, it should be noted there is no easier way to get out of this case other than to allege theft!!! This has also been met by a very unreasonable reply from the Students’ Union!!! It is very fascinating that I thought I understood what bad leadership really meant, but the recent happenings has shown me that I haven’t gotten a glimpse of what Bad leadership really means.
Rumors has it that ADEOLA a part one student of Mathematics and Statistics was going home in the dead of the night after a concert in school, but was met by gun shot by one of the vigilante in Damico area of Asherifa!!! Going into basic forensic analysis, it is very foolish for anyone to assume that someone that was trying to escape would be shot from the front, hence the issue of theft and attempted escape is nullified. Still on that spot, he tied his leg himself, this shows the inability of the Vigilante to take him for medical care immediately. Even the Nigerian Police Force in its degenerated state would take any injured suspect to the nearest hospital to save the life of that suspect for further questioning and investigation. In fact, the picture obtained shows a soul not willing to die, hence not convinced that he has done anything wrong!!!
What would we tell his parents? How do we explain to them that their son has been shot by a careless vigilante who was supposed to be protecting lives and properties?
• ON THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENTS’ UNION EXECUTIVES (Particularly the PRO)
It has now become certain that you have abandoned your work to media outlets, hence allowing rumors, lies and other socially decadent methods of passing of information become the order of the day. Shockingly, till date, there has been nothing but a very short write up by the Ag. CSO of the Students Union Security Committee, intimating the students of the ignoramus action taken to contain the situation, the vigilante ought to have first been brought to the OAU SU Secretariat for investigation and Mode ratio. The Union has achieved superior feats before. It is even worse that students haven’t gotten any official statement detailing the cause of his death, or even explaining the developments on the case. There are rumors from some corners that this would be swept under the carpet as it may be too complex for this present SU to handle due to it’s previous reactionary actions.
A Vigilante that could have possibly been drunk could have carried out any crazy action, and students ought not to take this with levity!!! Because if we allow it roll, more is coming and who knows who is next!!! RIP Adeola Ibukunoluwa Adegoke.
