Am Omobosola Karimat Alaka Stage name Okal ( Million dollar girl)
What was growing up like?
Hmmmm It as just been a normal girl growing up with my family there have been tough and smooth period s where we all just had to be strong for each other and keep forging on
When did music start for you? And when do you venture into it professionally?
Music started for me when I was 4 I gained interest in listening to songs and memorizing there lyrics but at some point I my interest for it was overshadowed by series of impossibilities thought I had in my head telling me I can’t do music …Professional I ventured into music in 2012 recorded my first single that I never released tho
What genre of music are you into and what picks up your interested in that genre?
My Genre of music depends on whatever style I decide to do basically it can be indie pop,Afro pop ,contemporary afro or any other sound I come across
Going into music, do you have your family’s support?
No they didn’t initially my mum used to seize my guitar severally but all those things later started changing with time
As a female, do you think the music industry is accommodating to female?
No not really I feel the Nigerian industry is not really supportive of female artist because the boys are more then girl’s and boys tend to elevate themselves than how girls relate with each other. A lot of gender discrimination that goes on also but I believe with time a lot of this will change
Who are those that inspired you and those you look up to in the industry?
At home I have the like of Asa ,Beautiful Nubia Majorly . Orlando Owoh ,Ebenezer obey From the foreign acts I have Tracy Chapman ,Taylor swift ,rihanna
I look up to practically all the artists and I try to borrow our of their craft in the best way in can really….. But I will always pick Asa my role model always tho
Shuffling school and career, how easy is it?
Am not finding it smooth at all…. But trust me I knew what I was going into when I signed up for me atall the same time and I just always tell myself life is all about Multi tasking so no pain ,no gain
As an upcoming artist what are your plans and expectations when you get into limelight?
The plan is to get into the Nigerian industry mainstream create a niche stabilize my fan base in the country then move into the continent as a whole (African) the one number best in Africa automatically can succeed in the Global music industry….. I just hope for the best and looking forward to the journey to the top
Among all the record labels, which One Would You Have Loved To Join?
Well I feel an artist can be in any record label as long as the team there really believe so much in the talent and have the necessary capabilities to bring the best out of the artist…. So it can be anywhere that has these features and feels like home.
What are the challenges you’ve faced so far?
Sincerely , a lot of uncountable challenge s to have been faced and will still be faced but trust me we Okal as a brand is up for it and ready to always step up above the challenges

Lol, well you know life is really unpredictable and honestly love can be found in the least expected place so whatever the future hold s we shall see

A typical Okal day is me alone at home with Tv with cable fixed in Music stations only and my phone close by

Hmmmm I feel blessed and lucky everyday for my journey so far in the music industry but the major one is when I was recently featured on naijaloaded as one of the Top 5 best female artist to watch out for in 2017….and 2017 is not over yet so we striving hard

I would be playing professional football…like hardcore it was my first love

Alot of challenges to be faced and a lot of them that can be conquered with hardwork,believe,faith and prayer..Majorly to Female artist s we all have to be strong and more tolerant to each other so a future can be built for the future generation
